How the course works

The course follows the same order used by typing teachers for decades: start on the home row, then add the top and bottom rows, capitals, punctuation and numbers. Each new key is practiced on its own first, then mixed with the keys you already know so your fingers build reliable muscle memory.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to learn touch typing?

Most learners know all the keys after 10-15 hours of practice spread over two to four weeks. Reaching your old speed usually takes another couple of weeks.

Do I need an account?

No. Your lesson progress and stars are saved in your browser. Create a free account to sync progress between devices.

What does 'Stop on errors' do?

In beginner mode the caret won't move until you press the correct key, so you learn the right finger movement. Turn it off once you're confident.

Are the lessons suitable for kids?

Yes. The lessons start with just two keys and build up slowly, which works well for children from about age seven.
